2017 Dodge Charger Dazzles and Receives “Five-Star” rating from the NHTSA

2017 Dodge Charger Safety Cage

Both models (rear and all-wheel drive) of the 2017 Dodge Charger have been awarded the highest rating in the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA)’s vehicle-evaluation program, which evaluates a vehicles crashworthiness via a series of tests, including rollover resistance as well as side and front impacts.

Unique Safety Features

The Charger has unique safety features such as Sensor Fusion technology. Sensor Fusion technology involves using a built-in camera and radar. The technology detects when a collision is about to happen and issues audio and visual warnings to the driver. If the driver does not respond to these warnings, the Charger’s brakes are applied, slowing the car or completely stopping it if you’re travelling below 25 miles per hour. There is also Lane Departure Warning with Lane Keep Assist, which uniquely allows the level of steering to be adjusted for differences in individual drivers. These choices are easily made available through the touchscreen center console with available fourth generation Uconnect, which is exclusively available in the new 2017 Dodge Charger, 2017 Chrysler 300, and 2017 Dodge Challenger.

An Equally Impressive Engine

As well as the 80+ safety features, the Charger also sports a 3.6-liter V6 engine, boasting 292 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. It has 16.1 cubic feet of space in the trunk and can comfortably carry up to 5 passengers with plenty of leg room (41.8 inches in the front) making this an ideal weekend vehicle and a great family car.
