The 2023 Jeep Wrangler 4xe Hybrid powertrain supplies 49 MPGe and 21 miles of all-electric range. A special "Willys" decal on the hood, finished in the 4xe's signature Electric Blue color, and an "Electric 4-Wheel Drive" decal on the tailgate indicate that this Willys is a 4xe hybrid. The available Sun and Screen Package, which includes the class-exclusive Sky One-Touch Power-Top system and Uconnect 4C NAV with an 8.4-inch touchscreen is available for the Willys 4xe.

The 2023 Jeep Wrangler Willys 4xe provides a unique on-road and off-road experience. The most advanced power plant designed for a Jeep Wrangler delivers maximum efficiency with 49 miles per gallon equivalent (MPGe) while eliminating range anxiety, providing pure electric power.

Torque from the Wrangler Willys 4xe hybrid transmission's electric motors is delivered instantly on demand by the driver. The power plant also provides continuous engine operation when starting and stopping.

The Jeep Wrangler Willys 4xe powerplant combines two electric motors and a 400-volt battery with a fuel-efficient 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine and an eight-speed TorqueFlite automatic transmission. This configuration increases the efficiency of the hybrid powertrain components and combines them with the world-renowned and proven Wrangler powertrain.

The Wrangler Willys 4xe's key powertrain output includes 470 lb.-ft (637 Nm) of torque, 375 horsepower (280 kW), and 49 MPGe from the following components:

  • Engine-generator unit

  • 2.0-liter turbocharged I-4

  • A transmission-mounted motor generator integrated into an eight-speed automatic transmission

  • 96-cell lithium-ion nickel-manganese-cobalt battery at 400 volts, 17 kWh

A low-inertia twin-scroll turbocharger is used in the high-tech 2.0-liter turbocharged I-4 engine for remarkable responsiveness, performance, and fuel economy.

Mounted in the front of the transmission box, this sizable electronic motor is the key to the Wrangler Willys 4xe's all-electric operation. The eTorque engine's high-voltage, liquid-cooled alternator is mounted at the front of the engine, replacing a conventional alternator. A motor-generator spins the engine for nearly seamless, fuel-saving, start-stop operation and generates electricity for the battery. Much more power is available from the second high-voltage motor generator.

The 17-kWh, 96-cell lithium-ion battery uses Nickel-Manganese-Cobalt-Graphite (NMC). The package and controls are mounted under the second-row seat, protecting them from the elements.
